This section serves as an introduction to the aims of, and background to, the goodmarine.com website project. The multiple uses of marine aggregates are summarised to illustrate the need for this industry and its contribution to the continued industrial and economic development of the UK. The concept of sustainable development and its relationship to the marine aggregates industry is also discussed. The
